Affiliate Disclosure

How Yard Flock makes money, which programmes we belong to, how links are marked, and the things a commission does not buy.

Last updated: September 3, 2026

Yard Flock is reader supported. Some of the links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you click one and make a purchase. This costs you nothing extra. It is how the research, writing and hosting are paid for.

1. FTC disclosure

In accordance with the United States Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR Part 255, Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, we disclose that Yard Flock has a material connection with certain retailers and merchants whose products appear on this site. That connection is a commission arrangement. It is disclosed here in full and again at the point of use on every page where an affiliate link appears.

2. Amazon Associates

Yard Flock is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. Amazon Associates is our primary affiliate programme.

3. Other programmes

We may also participate in other affiliate networks and direct merchant programmes covering farm supply, fencing, hatchery equipment and outdoor retailers. Where we do, the same rules in this document apply without exception.

4. How affiliate links are marked

Where it appearsHow it is marked
Affiliate buttons and product boxesA visible disclosure line inside the box, above or beside the button
Inline text links to retailersTechnical rel attributes of sponsored and nofollow on the link
Buying guides and reviewsA disclosure statement placed before the first affiliate link on the page
Reference tables and spec pagesNo affiliate links are used at all in our reference material
Disclosure appears before the first affiliate link on a page, never only in the footer.

5. What a commission does not buy

This is the part that matters, so it is worth being blunt about it.

  • Commission rates never determine which product wins a guide or what score it receives.
  • We do not accept payment, free product, or any other consideration in exchange for a favourable ranking, review or score.
  • We do not allow brands to review, approve or edit our content before publication.
  • Products that fail a bird welfare check are excluded regardless of their commission rate.
  • Where a product is genuinely wrong for a reader, we say so in a dedicated line inside the product box, even though that reduces clicks.

The honest trade off

An affiliate site makes more money when readers click and buy. The way we manage that conflict is to publish our research method, name the products we considered and rejected, and state who each recommendation is wrong for. If a guide ever reads as though everything is worth buying, it has failed.

6. Prices and availability

We do not control retailer pricing. Prices, discounts, availability and package contents change constantly and any price mentioned on this site may be out of date by the time you read it. The price shown on the retailer’s own page at the moment of purchase is the price that applies.

7. Purchases are with the retailer

When you follow an affiliate link you leave this site and complete your purchase with a third party. That retailer’s terms, privacy policy, shipping arrangements, warranty terms and returns process govern the transaction. We are not the seller and cannot assist with orders, refunds, damaged goods or delivery problems.

8. Cookies used for attribution

Affiliate programmes use cookies to attribute a purchase to the site that referred it. These typically expire after a set window, commonly 24 hours for Amazon. You can control cookies through your browser. See our Cookie Policy for details.

9. Questions

If anything about our commercial relationships is unclear, ask. Email hello@yardflock.com and we will answer directly.

Research method

Everything on Yard Flock is built from manufacturer specifications, published poultry and extension literature, and verified owner reviews. We do not test products in a coop of our own, and we say so on every page.
